Count Your Blessings.

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

With all the horrors we see around us everyday; with the messes we sometimes find ourselves in; with the negatives that surround us, it's really difficult to make the day a good one. Thoughts invade, attitudes aggravate, and people annoy because life is hard. Here's the thing, though. We can choose to concentrate on the worry, the stress, the sadness, and strife that comes with living or we can move past it into peace, contentment, happiness and harmony.

How do we do that, you ask?

It's simple really. When you think of one good thing that's happening in your life each day and concentrate on that one blessing what a difference it can make.  So just do it.

Count your blessings.

I dare you to name one thing for which you are grateful everyday. Don't worry if that one thing that makes you get out of bed every morning is the same thing as yesterday. That's okay. If it makes you look at life from a different perspective, that's all that matters.

Count them one by oneAn old hymn challenges us to do this very thing.

Count your blessings,
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings
See what God has done.

Is it too late to make New Year's Resolutions? Nah! It's only February. My resolution for 2013 was to leave last year's baggage behind me. It is my goal that by doing this challenge myself I will be able to keep this one (for once.)

So count them. I dare you. Tell me. What blessing comes to mind right now?
